Another fine day

I created this blog, so I figured I ought to use it, though I'm not quite sure who will actually care to read it. To be honest, I'm not sure why I want to read anybody else's blog, yet I still do. So, I guess I should make this juicy and salacious so whoever trips over my blog gets their money's worth.

Let's see...what happens in my life? I work, I take care of my family, I ride my bike. I do a lot of email. Probably too much, and the email spans all three of the primary areas of my life.

At work this past week I've been trying to find a bug that is the so-called needle in the haystack. Some sort of memory corruption is occurring in an incredibly strenuous environment. I can recreate it on my laptop--thankfully--but even with a cadre of impressive super-tools that are supposed to help me find sources of problems like this in record times, I'm still back to using printf-style debugging techniques just like I did back when I was but a youth hacking on a TRS-80, and later a Commodore VIC-20, in BASIC.

Family-wise, life's been interesting as the middle child has had some behavioral problems at school. January's been difficult for this kid, though, so we're hoping that some extra attention to detail from us and a turning of the calendar will bring things back to normal. I did enjoy sitting on the couch this morning watching Disney Channel cartoons with the Youngest and the Middle.

In the realm of bike, weather sucked today. Temps were good, but it was a steady Seattle-style rain throughout the day. The training schedule said "75 min @ Tempo", but I just couldn't get psyched to hit the road in the rain. I headed to the basement to ride the trainer, even bringing down the laptop with a 2004 TdF DVD, but still could only last about an hour (only 45 @ tempo) before I started going crazy. I swear that workouts are actually harder on the trainer. Man they suck. Hopefully I get out tomorrow.

This day is nearly over and it's time for me to head off to bed. If you read this much, I'm not sure why, but good night.
